Tobias studied economics in Hamburg and Uppsala. After finishing his PhD-dissertation on the effects of globalization on fiscal and monetary policies, which was awarded the university science prize of the Helmut-Schmidt University in Hamburg, Tobias worked for more than ten years in sector and real estate research of Deutsche Bank Research - first as senior economist, later as Head of Sector Research.
In summer 2006 Tobias was Research Fellow at the American Institute of Contemporary German Studies at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC. Besides his more than 60 reports within Deutsche Bank series, Tobias has published more than 80 papers in professional and academic journals and books – particularly on real estate topics and regional economics.
Since November 2011 Tobias has been Managing Director at the IRE|BS Immobilienakademie and has a chair for Real Estate at the University of Regensburg. He is Vice President of the German Association of Real Estate Researchers, a member of the executive committee in the German ULI and a board member of the German Corporate Government Initiative for the real estate sector.
In 2013 Tobias was elected “head of the real estate industry – Kopf der Immobilienwirtschaft” by 21 leading real estate journalists.
